Phonak EON Launch: New Technology for Everyday Hearing

On Wednesday 9 September 2026, I attended the Phonak EON launch at CodeNode in London. Coming just days after my visit to the Signia MaX launch, it was another opportunity to explore how hearing technology is developing and what those changes could mean for people with hearing loss.

With any new hearing aid, the most useful question is a practical one: how could it help in daily life? Following a conversation over dinner, hearing someone speaking from beside you, or taking a phone call should all feel as straightforward as possible.

Phonak’s EON range brings together developments in artificial intelligence, automatic sound adjustment and connectivity, with a particular focus on understanding speech in background noise. Explore Phonak’s introduction to EON.

Introducing Phonak EON

The new family includes Audéo EON Sphere and Audéo EON R, alongside CROS EON R for people with unaidable hearing loss in one ear.

There is an important distinction between the two Audéo models. Both offer automatic adaptation and connectivity, while EON Sphere adds Phonak’s dedicated HYPERSONIC chip and Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 technology for separating speech from noise. See the EON range and its features.

For anyone considering the range, understanding that difference is more useful than simply choosing by product name. The right option depends on the listening situations that matter most to them.

Helping speech stand out

Audéo EON Sphere uses Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 to separate speech from background noise in real time, including speech coming from different directions. Its HYPERSONIC chip powers this AI processing. Read about EON Sphere’s technology.

Think of a busy restaurant table. The person opposite you is talking, someone beside you joins in, and other conversations continue nearby. That is the kind of changing situation this technology is designed to support.

The aim is to make it easier to stay involved as the conversation moves around you. How much difference it makes for an individual is something to explore through a properly fitted hearing aid trial.

Automatic adjustments as the day changes

EON also introduces AutoSense OS AI 8.0, Phonak’s latest automatic operating system. It analyses the listening environment and adjusts the hearing aids’ settings and features accordingly.

One development is designed to keep speech-in-loud-noise support active more consistently when background noise fluctuates. This could be relevant when people join or leave a group, or when the surrounding room briefly becomes quieter.

The platform also includes WindBlock 2.0, designed to reduce wind noise during outdoor listening. Phonak explains these automatic features in its technology overview.

These are useful areas for development because everyday listening rarely stays the same for long. A quiet room, a busy street and a lively café each place different demands on a hearing aid.

We got the chance to listen to EON via wireless headphones. It really was impressive!

Connecting to phones and public audio

EON continues Phonak’s Made For All approach, offering connectivity with a wide range of Bluetooth devices for calls and audio streaming.

The range also supports Auracast broadcast audio. Where a compatible broadcast is available, this allows sound from a public or shared setting to stream directly to the hearing aids. Practical details matter too

Alongside its sound processing, EON Sphere has a smaller, lighter design than the previous Sphere generation. Phonak also highlights rechargeable power and EasyGuard domes, which help protect the receiver from wax and simplify routine care. View the EON Sphere product information.
